The constant quest to discover the blessing of stillness alludes so many. What do you do when you don’t have much ~
or access to “much”? What if life as you knew it changed in a moment? How much do you really need?
Many of us live in a constant state of fear ~
We are fearful of the things that may or may not happen, and if you think about it too often the things we fear never materialize at all. We’ve wasted time and energy living in “what ifs”, rather than giving energy to the possibilities.
What if you were free of anxiety?
Disappointment over an unfulfilling career?
Uncertainty over the unknown?
Disappointment over relationships?
Can you stop for one moment and imagine the simplest life possible, void of earthly desires, tangible objects, limited income and resources?
I was reminded yesterday of Psalm 46:10, “Be still and know that I am God“.
Therein lies the blessing of stillness.
The past 9 years of my life have been a culmination of leaning in and letting go.
Is it easy?
Not at all.
It’s some of the most challenging lessons I’ve ever learned.
I don’t know about you, but I always find myself in constant momentum forward ~
Live often has been lived from a reactive versus proactive posture.
I often forget what it’s like to just be still.
And in this still moment this morning, I know how truly blessed I am ~
You know you are truly loved by a perfect God ~
he knows your heart’s greatest desires and wants to fill your heart with joy, and all he wants is your praise ~
You are blessed with his Grace ~
Somehow we’ve made it so complicated ~
You can’t give back to the Lord what is already his ~
You can’t keep doing and forget to “just be” ~ and in that “being” you are called to just stand still!
How do you define “still”?
When was the last time you tried to just stand on “his word”?
Are you still trying to “be God”? We so often try to control every circumstance, every situation as if somehow we know better.
And we still stop and ask, “why?”
Perhaps you’re asking the wrong questions.
Perhaps anxiety is found in the “why?”
What does “still” look like right now?
My prayer is that today brings you the blessing of still and quiet ~
May your soul be filled with the Holy Spirit ~ May the simplicity of life quench your thirst ~
And may you know the riches prepared for you in heaven.
And may you hear the voice that whispers and pursues YOU!
